Building on 10 Bash a Big Success!
September 13, 2010
On Saturday afternoon, over 300 people gathered to celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of Café Reconcile. Beginning with a beautiful mass at Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church, reflections were given about the journey that our program has been on and plans for how we will continue to grow in the future. Celebrations continued with a second line along Canal Street to the Ritz- Carlton, led by Damon Batiste and the Glen David Andrews Band. The music was fantastic and all around, spirits were high. In the Grand Ballroom at the Ritz, food, drink and more music awaited guests. Well-known chefs from restaurants around New Orleans such as The American Sector, Café Adelaide, Commander’s Palace and Palace Café prepared a variety of delicious dishes.Long-time supporters, as well as new friends, participated in the evening, showing their support and gratitude for the work that Café Reconcile has done for its graduates as well as the foresight of the mission in the larger community. Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Senator Mary Landrieu were in attendance, offering inspiring words and their continued encouragement of social innovation projects, such as our Culinary Training Program here at the Café. The vision of Craig Cuccia, Tim Falcon and Rev. Harry Thompson, S.J, has come a long way since it first came into fruition. As we kicked off what is sure to be a year full of dynamic growth for our organization, the Building on 10 Bash was a reminder of the progress we have made and the vision that keeps us motivated.
