Steward

In addition to serving as Steward, Mr. Al takes great pride in preparing Café Reconcile’s daily baked chicken entree, and he checks each day as plates come back to see if customers have left any meat on the bone. They usually don’t! After a week learning the Steward position with Mr. Al, students develop a new understanding of the term “hard work.” Mr. Al inspires them to take pride in what they do no matter what the task, and he demands their best effort at all times. Outside the café, Mr. Al’s interests include rooting for his beloved New Orleans Saints and mentoring young people throughout New Orleans.
